Fasteners are widely used in various fields such as machinery, equipment, vehicles, ships, railways, bridges, construction, tools, instruments, chemicals, instruments, and supplies. Due to its wide variety of specifications, diverse performance and applications, and extremely high degree of standardization, serialization, and universality, fasteners are known as the "rice of industry".
Classification of fasteners
Fasteners can usually be classified into multiple categories, including:
- Bolt: Used to connect two or more components, usually requiring the use of nuts.
- Nut: Used in conjunction with a bolt, it achieves a tight connection of parts through the interlocking of its internal and external threads.
- Stud: A threaded cylindrical fastener commonly used in situations where shear force is required.
- Screw: Without the need for a nut, it can be directly screwed into the part for fixation.
- Self tapping screw: With self tapping threads, it can be directly screwed into the material without the need for pre drilling.
- Wood screw: a screw specifically used to connect wood.
- Gasket: placed between the bolt and nut to prevent loosening and protect the threads.
- Ring: A circular component used to secure parts.
- Sales: A small metal rod used to connect or position parts.
- Rivet: Fixing parts by self deformation or external pressure without the need for threads.
